What could be the schedule of football matches of the former Soviet Union for 2023?

What could be the schedule of football

On January 30, the ACC will officially release its 2023 football schedules, pinning matches for the upcoming season.

This is the first year the conference will move to a new structure for both scheduling and determining the conference champion, with the top two teams eliminating the title game and divisions entirely.

  • The new model is based on a 3-5-5 structure whereby each team will play three major rivals annually and face the other 10 teams in the league twice over a four-year cycle, once at home and once away. The schedule allows each team to face all 13 conference opponents home and away at least once during a four-year cycle.
  • The new schedule will eliminate the Atlantic and Coastal divisions, with all 14 schools competing in the same division starting in 2023. The top two teams in conference winning percentage will compete in the Subway ACC Football Championship on the first Saturday in December at Bank of America. Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

As part of the new agreement, Florida State will face the Clemson Tigers, Miami (FL) Hurricanes, and Syracuse Orange annually, and will face the following opponents from 2023 to 2026:

2023

House: Duke, Miami (Florida), Syracuse, Virginia Tech.

Away: Boston College, Clemson, Pitt, Wake Forest

2024

Home: Boston College, Clemson, North Carolina, NC.

Away: Georgia Institute of Technology, Miami (FL), Syracuse, Virginia

2025

Homes: Miami (Florida), Pitt, Syracuse, Wake Forest

Away: Clemson, Duke, Louisville, Virginia Tech

2026

Home: Clemson, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Virginia.

Away: Miami (Florida), North Carolina, NC State, Syracuse

In 2023, four non-conference rivals are locked out in the state of Florida – the Florida Gators, the LSU Tigers, the South Miss Golden Eagles, and the North Alabama Lions.

Since these games are already scheduled, the only gaps to be filled in forecasting the FSU football schedule for 2023 are where the ACC games will take place.

Also, since there will be no week-zero games this season, the chances of FSU playing Friday’s game are relatively slim. Since 2016, the ACC has hosted the Florida State Conference off-Saturday four times (2016, 2017, 2018, 2022).

(There is there is little chance that FSU will play the week 0 conference at the conference, as ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips previously stated that starting the season a week early makes sense before the playoffs are extended.)

So how do we start filling in the gaps? We have a little help with other games already planned.

  • Games at Boston College are scheduled for September 2 (NIU), September 9 (Holy Cross), October 7 (Army), and October 28 (UConn).
  • Clemson games are scheduled for September 9 (South Charleston), September 16 (FAA), November 4 (Notre Dame), and November 25 (South Carolina).
  • Duke has games scheduled for September 9 (Lafayette), September 16 (Northwest), September 23 (Connecticut), and September 30 (Notre Dame).
  • Games in Miami are scheduled for September 2 (Miami, Ohio), September 9 (Texas A&M), September 14 (Bethune-Cucman), and September 23 (Temple).
  • Pitt has games scheduled for September 2 (against Wofford), September 9 (against Cincinnati), September 16 (in West Virginia), and October 28 (in Notre Dame).

  • Virginia Tech games are scheduled for September 2 (Old Dominion), September 9 (Purdue), September 16 (Rutgers), September 23 (Marshall), and November 25 (Virginia).
